Poppy Offering

Poppies & Flags

Every year starting the month of May you will see our Post members at various locations offering poppies and US Flags, or you might see a poppy canister at a local retail store where you can take a poppy or flag and if you choose, make a donation. The monies collected for the poppies must go to assisting veterans and cannot be used by the Post internally. So please, show your appreciation of our fallen by wearing that poppy on National Poppy Day, which is the Friday before Memorial Day each year.

2021 Poppy Donations Results

This year's, 2021, Rayson-Miller Post 899 Poppy Drive was a huge success. We broke all previous records thanks to our wonderful donors. We also would like to thank the businesses that allowed us to put our Poppy Canisters on their counters.

Our heartfelt thank you also goes to the businesses that allowed us to set up our Poppy Donation tables: Pittsford Dairy, Powers Farm Market and the Schottland Family YMCA. These businesses were presented our Appreciation Plaques by Poppy Chairman Danny Barnes and Vice Comander Dean Taylor.

Veterans Supporting Veterans Patch

Veterans Supporting Veterans

In 2016, the Rayson-Miller Post 899 began its formal initiative of Veterans Supporting Veterans. This initiative follows the mission of the American Legion, helping veterans. Monies raised by the Post under this initiative are used to support veterans in need in our community. Rayson-Miller Post 899 raises funds for its community youth programs and felt that this initiative to assist our veterans should also be made a formal program of Post 899.
